Annika began her PhD at UChicago in 2021 after studying comparative neuroanatomy of lemurs as an undergraduate. In the Heckscher Lab, she has pivoted to studying anatomy on a very different scale, focusing on the cellular evolution of motor circuits across a large number of larval insects. Outside of the lab, Annika is involved in many campus activities, including co-chairing the International Graduate Student Advisory Board and organizing the annual South Side Science Festival.
