I was born and raised in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. After completing my bachelor's degree in Biology, I moved to Chicago to pursue my doctoral degree. Currently, I'm a PhD candidate in Dr. Alfredo Garcia's lab. My thesis project investigates the interactions between Alzheimer's Disease and sleep apnea in a preclinical mouse model. I am most interested in understanding how experiencing untreated sleep apnea may change the trajectory of Alzheimer's disease progression.
My hobbies include making jewelry, drawing, painting, singing in the shower, and going to live music shows. I have an adorable, True Puerto Rican Mutt pup called Tropi whom I named after the concept of entropy.
