I'm a molecular neurobiologist. My dream is to see a cure for Motor Neuron Diseases in my lifetime. My research focuses on the RNA level interactions which dysfunction across all subtypes of familial and sporadic ALS (a fatal and insidious motor neuron disease). I serve as the Outreach Coordinator for the UChicago Center for Motor Neuron Disease, where I teach engaging experiment based neurogenetics courses intended to inspire future scientists to focus on curing neurodegenerative diseases.

Do you know someone who would like to work with us to bring our outreach courses to a local Southside classroom? Contact me by email at KLaPre@uchicago.edu and we will try our best to come to your school soon!

In my free time, I am an artist, and a kitty foster pawrent, and I enjoy traveling the world with just a single backpack. Catch me in Lake Michigan with my goggles and buoy!
