I am a PhD student in the Carrillo lab, where I study development and plasticity at the Drosophila neuromuscular junction. I am particularly interested in discerning the cellular and molecular mechanisms by which motor neurons compensate for loss of function following injuries or disease.
The variety of research in CON encourages us to engage in multifaceted discussions and develop unique collaborations. I've gained invaluable feedback on my research through these diverse perspectives and shared intellectual curiosity, pushing my work in exciting new directions.
Outside of the lab, I also stay involved in the broader campus community by volunteering and serving on the Graduate Council Health & Wellness Committee. In my free time, I like to play intramural sports, read and compose poetry, and keep up to date on the latest shonen anime.
